why are my adobe pdf file showing up as firefox browser files. Hi have Mozilla Firefox in addition to IE on my new computer. The computer is Win 7 Pro. But all my PDF files now open in the Firefox browser - which I Do NOT prefer. I would prefer that my Acrobat files open in Acrobat XI. There is a red button on the right side of the Downloads window corresponding to the file. Click that and it will cancel the process. Every time I open a PDF file in the browser, the options I am given are 'Open with Firefox', 'Open with [Choice of software]', or 'Save file'. I choose the first, as I only want to look at the file without needing a copy on my computer, but it always downloads the file to my Download folder too. You can change what action Firefox takes for defined content types. This will not affect media embedded in a web page - only links to the files themselves.
